I joined The Friendship Cabin in October 2018 and it was the best thing I have done. Before joining I rarely went out and I had all but turned into a hermit.
I have never looked back. I now look forward to going on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I have met some really nice people and there is always a variety of things to do.
We have entertainers who come in and put on a concert for us and of course we all sing along. We also have people from organisations who advise us on online banking and many other things. The Fire Brigade did a home safety presentation and it was really helpful and interesting.
Every week we have different activities such as games, puzzles and mind-bending quizzes. At lunch time the meals are very appetising and enjoyable. There is also a good selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate when we arrive with something tasty to eat and after lunch, before we go home, we have another round of tea and coffee this time with cakes and biscuits.
We would not enjoy this so much without the volunteers who do a great job, and nothing is too much bother for them. They are an amazing group of people.
