Christmas At The Old Manor 2023

The final four days of celebrations in the last week of 2023 for the members of The Friendship Cabin was a glittering affair for Trustees, Board members, Volunteers and members and invited guests held at The Old Manor.  The Friendship Cabin was delighted to have the company of The Chair of The Trustees of Music in Hospitals & Care in attendance thanking her for finding time in her busy schedule. When the members arrived early morning, they were treated to toast and a warm drink and were delighted to welcome the ever popular David Hood from MIHC and he treated everyone to his usual brand of music comprising of Country, Popular and some Christmas. After David’s first session it was time for high tea from a sumptuous menu followed by a choice of dessert.

With the enjoyment and wellbeing of the members always at the front of the thoughts of the Board, the members can look forward to an exciting spring and summer. Firstly they will be entertained to a top quality afternoon tea at the luxurious Balbirnie House Hotel and of course true to Friendship Cabin tradition, live music will be on hand in the form of our great friend, David Hood.

Largs

As we move into the summer the annual day outing will this time take the members to Largs, a town situated on the Firth of Clyde in North Ayrshire when everyone can have a walk on the seafront, visit the pier and then enjoy a nice meal before taking the coach home. During the summer there will also be other functions currently  being arranged.

Trip to Oban

What a fantastic day we had in Oban! Our journey started bright and early, thanks to a picnic goody bag from Kerry at My SPAR. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Daniel MacIntyre at The View, where we enjoyed a comforting toast. The highlight was a delicious three-course meal that perfectly captured the region's flavors, ending with a sweet dessert.

Beyond the food, the day was about creating lasting memories with Screen Memories, filled with laughter and nostalgia. We were honored by the presence of Cllr Peter Gulline, whose support was much appreciated.

Special thanks to Bay Travel and driver Arthur Corse for making the journey enjoyable and safe. We also extend our gratitude to all our volunteers, Roger Wilks, and Pearl for coordinating everything seamlessly.

Blair Drummond Safari Park

The weather was stunning as The Friendship Cabin members embarked on their summer outing. After being collected by a luxury Bay Travel Coach, they headed to Blair Drummond Safari Park, where the highlights included lions basking in the sun, playful monkeys, and grazing camels. A captivating bird of prey display thrilled everyone.

Following a busy morning, the group enjoyed a picnic by the lake, with thanks to Kerry from My SPAR for the sandwiches and refreshments. Later, they visited Scoonie Bowling Club, where Mary Parry served a tasty three-course meal.

The tired but happy group returned to Woodside at six o’clock. Special thanks go to Bay Travel, Kerry, Mary Parry, and the Blair Drummond staff. The day was made possible by Pearl’s meticulous planning, and I (Roger) thank her on behalf of everyone for a truly memorable day.

The Friendship Cabin, your local charity based in Glenrothes, are delighted with their volunteer Allan Robertson, who completed the Glenrothes 10K fun run and raised substantial funds from the Just Giving site and sponsorship forms. These funds will make a significant impact on our community efforts. Once again many congratulations for a great effort. Thank you to everyone who supported Allan and contributed to this fantastic achievement. Together, we are making a difference!
